Hall of Fame
Thirty-four years of leagues means thirty-four years of people who showed up early, stayed late, and built something the rest of us get to play in. The BUDA Hall of Fame honors them by name — a small class at a time, announced each winter.
What it honors
Induction recognizes sustained contribution to Boston ultimate, on the field or off it. That deliberately covers more than highlight reels: the league's first classes honored its 1992 co-founders and early organizers alongside championship players, and the team category has recognized Boston club programs whose national titles put this city on the ultimate map. Twenty seasons of quietly running a league counts the same as twenty layout grabs.
How induction works
Nominations open each fall and stay open through October. A selection panel of past inductees and board members reviews every nomination in November, and the new class is announced at the Winter Community Gala in Cambridge each January — the same night the spirit awards go out. Classes are small on purpose: a few individuals and at most one team a year.
Players, builders, and teams
- Players — competitive careers that ran through BUDA leagues, club, or both
- Builders — founders, coordinators, coaches, and board members whose work outlasted their tenure
- Teams — Boston teams whose achievement or longevity shaped the wider game
Most inductees turn out to be two of the three. That's the point.
Nominate someone
Anyone can nominate; you don't need to be a current player. A strong nomination is specific — years, leagues, what changed because this person was here. Send it through the contact page with "Hall of Fame" in the subject when nominations open this fall.
