BUDA West
BUDA West is the league's Worcester-area outpost: mixed hat leagues and learning clinics in spring, summer, and fall, with an occasional indoor league when winter cooperates. Sign up as an individual or with a friend, and we'll place you on a team.
How hat leagues work
A hat league means you register alone (or pair with one friend) and the organizers draw balanced teams, as if names came out of a hat. No captain to find, no roster to assemble. Teams are rebalanced every season, so a fall signup means new teammates even if you played all summer. It's the lowest-commitment way into organized ultimate there is.
Three seasons a year
- Spring hat — April and May
- Summer hat — June and July
- Fall hat — September and October
Registration opens about a month before each season starts. Every BUDA West league appears in all leagues & events alongside the Boston-side leagues, and pricing is pay-what-you-can like everything else BUDA runs.
Where you'll play
Home base is Pioneer Field at St. John's High School in Shrewsbury. Players come from Worcester, Shrewsbury, Northborough, Westborough, Grafton, and everywhere else along the 290 corridor. If Boston-side fields mean an hour in traffic for you, this is your league. Winter indoor sessions, when they run, use the turf in Northborough.
New to ultimate?
West leagues skew welcoming: mixed means all genders on the field together, the spring and fall clinics teach throws and rules from zero, and spirit scores — the post-game ratings teams give each other in this self-officiated sport — keep the play honest at every level. Not sure where you fit? Find your league sorts it out in under a minute, or email info@buda.org and ask for the West coordinator.
